Hello Lovelies!
I had the pleasure of meeting up with two beautiful sisters at the Fort Worth Stock Yards. These two stunning ladies photograph beautifully. Here are a few portraits from their experience.
Hello Lovelies!
Becca is a '14 Senior who had a gorgeous session with her awesome Mom. I think it's great that they both had this session together. When you get to spend time with these two you experience how strong their connection is. As well as how funny they can be when they occupy the same room! Mother & Daughter sessions have a spot close to my heart because we can celebrate different stages of beauty.
As you can see these two women are beautiful and enjoy a close relationship. I encourage all mothers to have a session similar to this with their children. Mothers deserve some 'face time' in front of the camera (especially with their loved ones).
Ms. J's look amazing and her makeup looks perfect!
I kept her look light. Not everyone is a fan of how makeup feels on their skin so I kept it simple.
Her dresses were cute and reflected her style. The green dress was a piece that she had never worn but always wanted an excuse to wear. I think we're all guilty of doing that!

I love his drool and little toes! What a little heart breaker.

Here's an adorable picture from her being a newborn.
Roxy did wonderful for her cake smash. It's always tricky. Sometimes little ones are mobile enough to not want to sit still, even for cake! A few little ones hate getting their hands sticky. Regardless of how the session goes, it's always fun and a great memory.
Some sort of bath time or clean up routine can be fun (or a breather) for the little ones. They're more familiar with bath, and bubbles, and even playing in the sink.

We snuck through a hole in the fence and made our way to this abandoned building. It was actually used for a TV show as a prison, so there are faux watch towers and bars over the windows. When scouting this location my friend and I got a little spooked by the watch towers before we realized they were fake.
Kaelyn is stunning and so much fun to work with. I'll post some fun behind the scenes shots in another post!

I've been working with Ms C for a while now and at my last wedding they attended her Mom approached me for a new session. Ms C's modeling agency needed some swim suit pictures. After trying to find a good place to have the session at we settled on Benbrook Lake. In my previous visits I remembered calm shores and some light colored sand. So early one Saturday morning we ventured to the lake. It was really sunny that morning and getting hot. Ms C came prepared with many suit options and some beach gear. Her mom was a great help to me with lighting support. We got some great pictures with the three of us working together! Enjoy the fruits of our labor :)
This last image is Sport's Illustrated worthy in my eyes. She rocked this shot!
This session was so much fun and it was great to work with Ms C again. We made a 2013 Calendar from this session and it looks amazing! I can't wait for our next session. She just got her real estate license and came to me for head shots.

Her parents are from Ireland and they found a surrogate mother to have Sophie.
Newborn portraits aren't common in Ireland like they are in the United States.
Sophie wanted to stay awake and watch me while I took pictures.

I had the awesome pleasure of seeing this beautiful family again for their Christmas portraits. My client has some beautiful children and has great Christmas cards made to send out to family and friends. This is my second year seeing them and the first was during a newborn session. I enjoy collaborating with my clients and helping their ideas come to life. The coordinated colors were great too. I am such a fan of purple and this family pulled together beautiful outfits for their portraits that were complimented by the fall colors.

This was a wonderful wedding located at the Ashton Depot in Downtown Fort Worth Texas. I covered this day with Emmarie Jackson and we were so excited to be shooting at this beautiful location. The ceremony took place right after the train passed. The beautiful light of sunset gave such a warm glow during the ceremony. It was so beautiful.

Braden & Audrey came from out of town to have their wedding at the Frisco Heritage Center. Audrey did an amazing job with the theme of her wedding. The grey and yellow worked beautifully at the Depot. The couple had a great time and laughed easily through out the day. ]]>In my research of places to shoot I found some interesting spots at the Stock Yards. I've roamed around before and have found hidden treasures each visit. With my last senior session with Brett we didn't have the time to try out my new spot so I asked for an 'After Session'. I consider an 'After Session' like a sequel to the original session. I really love this little spot and hope to revisit some time soon! Thank you so much Brett for waking up so early to model for me.

The lovely Emmarie, with Emmarie Jackson Photography, asked if I could shoot an anniversary session for her in July. My anniversary is in July too but my hubby will put off pictures for a while. Which is good for me in a way. July and August can be such hot months in Texas and I end up melting in the heat. So, hopefully I can get a session in when it's not too hot or cold and we can both be happy (minus him thinking the camera will steal his soul). I'm sure you have someone in your family (or maybe it's you) that just hates being in front of the camera. As photographers we rarely find ourselves in fron of a camera. Yet, since I've been working with Emmarie, I've managed to steal several pictures of her. She's modeled for me and I've caught her in action on a photo shoot.
[On a side story, one of my in-laws came with me to this shoot to help out since he neeeded to be in Irving. He was auditioning for The Voice! Thank you Chuck for being a good sport and joining me for this session! Anyway...]
Emmarie dolled up in a spicy red dress and killer shoes to match. She wanted romance so we created a little in Las Colinas and I did my best to keep it PG13.
This next picture may be my absolute favorite from this session. The color, texture and pose just add to the mood. What is especially awesome for me is that they had bystanders just gawking at them while I stuck them in this pose and happily snapped away.

]]>I was contacted several months ago for a senior session and was glad to hear that Brett was a 2013 Senior. She would be graduating ten years after I graduated from the same high school and that made me feel a little old! But it delighted me to hear that she was ready and had already started planning for her session. She wanted to go for a little bit of country and Fort Worth is a great place to go for that. With her cowboy boots, shorts with lace and the pretty purple dress we squeezed in a session until we lost sun light.
I came out of the session limping but happy with what we got in such a short amount of time. There were more spots I wanted to visit but we didn't have the light to go (more to come with those spots later). Check out the next posts to see where we went for our 'After Session'.

It's been a while since I had a moment to write up some posts so, as usual, I need to catch up. I've been staying pretty low key and have had the pleasure of spending some much needed time with family and friends. I had three friends with birthdays in July and my anniversary. Actually, our anniversary was celebrated with a close couple that was celebrating their first anniversary since it was in the same month. I'm not much of a partier, I would rather hang out, talk about everything and nothing, and relax. Photography is my exciting life of meeting people, shooting people, and late nights of editing. But my friends barely see me, so I give them my time twice a year (I'm sorta kidding but not really). Let's start with the anniversary celebration at the beginning of July. We ate at a German restaurant (the food was so yummy!) and played games till I passed out, good times! The next weekend I had a date with my hubby on our actual anniversary (he is so sweet to me, it's our 7th year!). Then I took one of my best friends to Pete's Piano bar after dinner. This girl can sing and we sang along the whole time. On the last weekend I took one of my other best friends to see Four Day Weekend, an improve group in Fort Worth. I didn't have high expectations but they were actually really funny. I'd go again but stay away from the front. So, in between all the fun, I had to get some work done.
In previous posts you may have noticed that I've been working with another Photographer, Emmarie, and she keeps me busy in between my own schedule. I joined her for a bridal session in Las Colinas. This was my first time visiting the Mandalay Canals and it was a lot of fun. I didn't think that Texas would have a spot like this but DFW offers a lot of variety. This makes me happy because I'm not much of a country gal. Anyway, lets move on to the beautiful bride-to-be.
I do have to warn you that I really, really loved how the B&W with this session. The location has beautiful color but the textures and lighting gave way to some amazing b&w conversions. It was amazing, I personally love them.
Emmarie was the main photographer today and I took the liberty to get some candid shots.
We did have some extra fun and played around with her veil.
Oh, I just loved her dress, with the walls, and the greenery. You wouldn't have gotten the impression that we were suffering in the Texas heat. Stick around for the next set of posts. We drove by the theater, running late, and found a spot to park in. My hubby and I hurried into the lobby. The walls were covered with posters with a small T.V. showing the show playing out in the other room. We could hear loud talking and music ahead. Our friend Mike was waiting in the lobby with our tickets and with a little frustration we couldn't go to our seats yet. I didn't understand the hold up. Why were we waiting? Then an usher took us into a dark hall way where people in a marching band were waiting. What? Really? I don't like being blind in a dark room (I scare easily). Suddenly the marching band started walking through a curtain and playing their drums and the usher hurried us to our seats. Still confused I stumbled to my seat. The rectangle room was surrounded by seats on all four walls and most corners. The actors in the play ran in to the center of the room mumbling about gambling and girlfriends. The walls were painted to set the stage and props were strategically placed. This was different but fun! So I stole my camera out of my bag and started snapping. A few scenes into the show my friend hissed at me to put away my camera. I looked at him stupidly. What? Why would I do that. My hubby showed me in the show's program that photography/video was prohibited. Sigh. I defiantly shut off my camera and put it safely back in my bag. Something or other about this-n-that. Whatever! Hehe, I still have pictures and here are a few for me to share.
And... that's as far as I got until I was told to hide my 'illegal' camera (LOL).

]]>Every now and then I get to see my Best Friend's niece, Miss F. She is adorable and the last time I got to photograph her prior to this year was when Miss F was 6 months old.
Some time has passed and Miss F is a busy young lady. She brought her cousin Mr. C to have some fun with during the session. We had the session at the end of the day and used as much of the remaining daylight to dance a little. Look on to see the cuteness!
Aren't these two adorable? And Mr. C helped Miss F up when 'they all fell down'.

I've got some time to catch up on my blog today. WooHoo! I've been busy with family, house, work and Photography. I don't have weddings that often because I work mostly Portraits but when I do it takes up a lot of my time. I don't 'mass develope' a wedding. I go through each image individually. For someone that can shoot 100-200 images an hour, it's quite a selection process.
When I moved out on my own as a college student I had a full time job at a local gas station food joint. While I worked there I made some great friends I still keep up with. One lovely young lady is Meagan and she was so much fun to hang out with at work and outside work. She even took my broke butt to a Edge Fest Concert (thank you, thank you!) to see some great bands. After she graduated High School, she joined that Army and she would write me even though I was terrible and writing back (I tried the Pen Pal thing many times in my youth and failed horribly). I try to see her any time that she is home and our schedules don't always match but I love getting to hang out with her when I can. I just celebrated my Seven Year Anniversary and I'm always excited about watching couples in love get married. I wish Anthony and Krystle many years of bliss while they share their lives together. Here is a glimpse of their wedding day in Texas. Their private ceremony was held in the Fuller Gardens at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. The party started at the Marquis on Magnolia in Fort Worth, Texas.

I had the pleasure of lending a hand to Emmarie with Emmarie Jackson Photography for a beautiful session with a Bride-to-be at White Rock Lake. It was my first time visiting the area and we successfully stole a dock for about two hours. I was able to sneak some shots of the Bride. I loved all the details and the Red! The countdown is nearly over for Miss A turning One Year Old! For her 11 Month session I followed her Mom to a family member's house. There was a tractor that would be used for the session. Once at the house the tractor was moved closer to the home and scared little Miss A into a crying fit. The tractor was really loud and for being only a foot tall I would be scared too. So we kept cool inside while we waited and tried again. She did eventually forget about the loud tractor and convinced her to stay by the wheel. I really love the resulting portraits! I had an unexpected visitor this evening, one of my neighbors came over to hang out in my driveway to catch some of the solar eclipse. He had an extra solar filter for me too! How nice :) We were disappointed with the cloud coverage so they left at the time of the full eclipse. Then the clouds parted a few minutes later showing the end of the eclipse! So, I took a few pictures so I wouldn't burn up my card.

I've worked with Silvia before when I took newborn pictures for her son Mr. C and was delighted to work with her again to get all the Grandchildren together as a gift to the Grandparents. Thirteen showed up and I set a follow-up session for one missing cousin. That makes the grand total to fourteen! I'm not an expert at Photoshop so please don't assume I can do this every time. It does come at an extra cost and time delay but I'm happy with the end result in this scenario. I do have to say that they are a good looking bunch and are lucky kids to have such great looking genes running in their blood.
This square collage can be made into a huge 24x24 canvas, book cover, or mounted print. I believe there are 40-50 images here.
Since it was Mr. C needed some Six Month portraits, I took a few extra minutes to capture his adorable face. I don't think he lost a single strand of amazing hair since he was born. Such a lucky little guy!
I had a great time meeting all the family and I look forward to seeing Mr. C grow through his First Year!

Miss A had a great birthday party but it was so busy with so many things going on all at once. I wanted some One-on-One time with her to have her feel relaxed around me. Miss A's mom met me at a local park and we played with Miss A. Her portraits came out adorable. I really love capturing children in their candid moments and their adorable emotions. She is such a happy little girl! Oh, and it was incredibly windy this day, a blustery kind of day.

Her beautiful family invited me over to take some pictures since they couldn't make it to the park like initially planned. I've had the pleasure of getting to see Miss A every month. With my new home, Miss A got to be my first client to have their session in my house. I have some spots with great natural lighting because of great big windows. Miss A has some toothies this visit. Her second outfit had the cutest shirt, I love the design and colors.

When I heard of the Brenizer Method, I loved it! (It really is one of those things that make you say, why didn't I think of this sooner?! Duh! Anyway..) In most of my portraits I like to have a creamy background (shallow depth of field). In order for me to get my desired look I usually have to close in pretty tight on the person and loose a lot of the scenery. I've taken panoramic pictures before but I like this idea to have panoramic pictures done during a session or wedding. This was my first attempt. I don't have a stitching program so I had to do this one my own and there are a few messy spots. Overall it was fun an my lovely model thought I was crazy, haha!
This is the first picture taken from the series of panoramic images. As you can tell, there is no scene and my model takes up the full frame.
This is my ten image combination. I know it's a bit messy but it's still a goodie.

]]>We all have a first for something. I've done several weddings but my very first wedding (as a solo shooter) was for Mr. & Mrs. L. They were my first engagement session and that led me to be their wedding photographer. Mrs. L then graciously agreed to be my first 'The Dress' bridal session. Isn't she awesome?!
I took my lil man D with me to this session and he was hilarious. Poor girl was trying so hard to nail these fierce looks while watching my silly monkey put on a show.

There is so much more to me than just a pretty face but it's always nice to take a few extra minutes to glam up for a special date every once in a while. We all try to do things (big and little) to make ourselves feel awesome or beautiful. (If you aren't its time that you do!) If you've met me you'll notice that I don't really wear make-up and I have so much hair that I throw it up all the time. Date night with my hubby is different though. Really different! If I'm going out with him I'm going to step out the door looking amazing for him. Sometimes you have to take the extra time just for yourself and no one else. You have to take the time to remind yourself how gorgeous you really are.
I would love to remind everyone that I do offer contemporary portraits. The session may just be for you or for a special someone. It doesn't have to be boudoir or anything that you aren't comfortable with. We will work together to create and capture beauty. I don't have to rely on Photoshop tricks, I'll just use the basics. Through proper posing, lighting, wardrobe, hair, and make-up we can get amazing results.
Emmarie (with Emmarie Photography) entertained my desire to practice and graciously modeled for me. I stuck her in a corner, surrounded her with reflectors and boxed her in with a fan. She did her own hair and make-up too. It was awesome! Thank you, Emmarie, for your time and patience.

This post will start with some back story on me! (The full story is crazy but if you really want all the details just ask me the next time we see each other.)
Mr. & Mrs. W were stationed in GUAM and had an opportunity to give a 4 year old girl a break on the weekends from her abusive home. She could barely talk and had night terrors regularly. Her home was filled with domestic violence and abandonment. But with loving attention from Mr. & Mrs. W, the young girl began to talk and read. She even surprised them one night by telling them "I want You to be my Daddy and You to be my Mommy." They were speechless! Why would this girl say such a thing? As time passed her home life did not improving and soon the young girl's father offered Mr. & Mrs. W adoption papers. They were shocked and had not considered adoption for they were trying to have a child of their own. The young girl's father had no intention on keeping her and had plans to place her in an orphanage in the Philippines. With a failing marriage and a baby of her own the step mother could not accept responsibility for the little girl. Mrs. W knew that a life as an orphan in the Philippines would not be great and tried convince Mr. W that they had to do something. It's a big responsibility to raise someone else's child, how could they get involved? They were not yet convinced. One night as the couple drove the little girl back to her home, she started to cry. She sobbed to them not to take her back. She didn't want to go. By the grace of God, Mr. & Mrs. W agreed to scoop up this 4 year old girl and become her parents. From that day forward the little girl had the best Father and Mother that anyone could ask for!
Each of us has a story. My story shows that every day people can do an amazing thing and give a great home to a child. It takes an amazing heart to adopt but it is such a blessing!
I had the pleasure of taking pictures of Miss L. She has an amazing story of her own. It was such a blessing to hear her story and to meet this beautiful baby. During our session she couldn't take her eyes off the plants and flowers. I don't blame her, they were beautiful that morning. The session started so early that it was still cold but we managed to warm up and get beautiful pictures!
Such a beautiful little girl with a great family. I can't wait to watch her grow!

It's been a busy last few weeks. John and I made the last minute decision to rent a home and move. Throwing that together has been interesting but it's definitely a blessing for our family. I'm super excited for my son to be in a better school district. But we've had to move on a short notice before after a traumatic situation. It just goes to show that with our combined effort we can tackle anything! I've been so blessed to be married to John and to have my son.

I had the pleasure of meeting Anggelhy when I wanted to build up my Newborn portfolio. During the crazy snow storm in FW where everyone was home on FB (haha) I posted a model search. I got 3 responses. Baby G was one of the babies and so adorable. We took pictures frequently over the next year. I then had the opportunity to take senior pictures of her SIL and meet her MIL, Cynthia. They were so sweet and funny during the senior session.
Some time later I got a request to get some family pictures taken. Cynthia has such a beautiful family. The main focus was Cynthia's mother with her beautiful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I loved meeting everyone and being a part of capturing this moment of time. The future holds so much change but this day will be with the family for years to come.

Leila was still in her mommy's belly during her first In-Home Session. Her mommy was beautiful during her pregnancy. We held the first part of the session indoors and the second part of her session outdoors.
Here is Leila at 3 months! The floor and background are both mine.
Sometimes I like to use my own props like the flower clip. My clients are awesome and usually have a great selection of their own to use :)
On a rainy day we took an extended family portrait.
We had a change of plans and decided to have Leila's One Year pictures at Linda's home. There was still some daylight to use so we made it work just out the front door!

"I think there are definitely more pros than cons when having an in home session. I have had a few in-home sessions and they have turned out great!
When you have an in-home session you don’t have to worry about inclement, especially if you have children involved in the session. You have personal products (i.e. brush, hairspray, make up for touch ups) readily available, in case you need them between shots. ;O) Your photos are much personal because you are utilizing your own home and furnishing which no studio can do. Yours photos will always be a one of kind because they are taken in your home. Last but not least you and your family don’t have to be as nervous because you will be in your home with familiar surroundings. Again, this is especially helpful when taking photos of toddlers or young children.
I think the only con about having an in-home session is that you will be limited. Meaning you would not want to take family photos in your home every single year. Photos with the same or similar backgrounds would become boring very quickly.

I work with an awesome and beautiful young lady and it's been wonderful seeing her when I walk into work during the week. Elizabeth hired me to come over for Christmas pictures with her husband and babies.
Here is her review.
"The Pros for having an In Home session were several!
With having dogs for babies it’s not an easy task to take your animals to have their picture taken at a studio.
I have 2 large dogs and having Michelle come to our house saved my sanity and theirs. Both dogs were much more relaxed in our living room for pictures then I could ever get them to be at a studio. They were not shaking or nervous and our pictures turned out great, I think they were even smiling. It was a lot less stressful for the animals and their parents and the convenience was outstanding.
We also had several outfit changes and to be able to go to your bedroom to change, was much easier then having to bring all of the outfits to the studio, change in a cramp dressing room and then look great for the pictures. This way, I also did not have to worry about losing any accessory or outfit.
I cannot think of any cons Michelle, why don’t they all do this? " -Elizabeth

I have a regular job Monday through Friday and have met some great people from my most recent employer. The executive assistant there is so energetic, sweet and awesome. Every holiday she decorates and really gets into the spirit of each one. I had the pleasure of doing a family session for her last year for Christmas. After seeing what I do for 'on-location' sessions she offered to lend me some of the office decorations to use in some of my sessions. She rocked my world this month by giving me some valentine decorations that didn't make the cut!

With the cloud coverage that day I had a beautiful diffused light. I like to shoot with a shallow depth of field and like to use a 50mm 1.8. This photo was shot at 1/2500 at 1.8. I like to shoot a little overexposed. With all the white I wanted a light picture. The clean edits were done first then I used an action from Paint the Moon and finished the image with a blue texture.
Taja is a friend of my brother-in-law and I've known her for a few years now. She used to hang out and play with Darrius. He loved her and would get so excited when she was at the house. She couldn't get a moment alone to breath if Darrius was around. So when we found out that she was pregnant it was so exciting. I was happy for her and knew that having a son would be a perfect first born for Taja.
I convinced Taja to come out for some belly pictures that the morning turned out to be a little chilly. The light was beautiful.
I tell my clients that are expecting to let me know when they're going to the hospital or message me the day their baby is born. This helps me plan for a day and time slot to have a newborn session. Newborns should have their session within 7 days. Premie's have some more time. The reason for having their session while they are still so new is to have the babies super sleepy and not too alert. Babies run the show! If they don't want a certain pose or don't want to sleep while I'm there, we just have to try something different.
I'm happy to introduce Baby B!
He was wide awake most of the session.
Baby B was born on Fat Tuesday. I had spent weeks decorating my work place for Marti Gras so I just grabbed a few feathers and a mask for Baby Ben's pictures.
This is my first time wrapping a baby. Baby B liked to be swaddled and once he fell asleep it worked out beautifully.
Baby B's oldest brother did an amazing job following directions and enjoyed getting his picture taken.
The 2nd oldest brother hesitated but once he got in front of the camera he came alive!
I'm so happy for Taja and I can't wait to see Baby B grow.

The great head band got Miss K's mommy inspired to make a tutu to match it. I LOVE purple and tutus are so fun for girls!
I usually bring a few props to help with a newborn session but prefer to use what my clients have in their home. Miss K's room had tons of items to use to personalize her session. Miss K's mommy customized that baby blocks to include the birth information. Love it!
This pink monkey beanie with a bow on top is so cute! It is so precious.
I love the antique scale. Miss K wanted to stretch out on in during her pictures. The scrolling that you see on the wall is the frame for an awesome mirror in the room.
The Peacock Feather headband is so cute! I'm personally a fan of feathers and would want this feather for myself, LOL.

My goal as a photographer is to become a family's photographer. This doesn't mean that I only provide family portrait sessions. To me this means that I can meet most of the needs that a family may have when it comes to photographic services. In a previous post I mentioned how I met a couple as their wedding photographer and later had the pleasure of welcoming their first child into the world. It's like becoming a family friend. Most of my clients have met my son Darrius (my hubby is a difficult person to meet it seems, LOL) and my son always remembers each family he meets. He gets excited when he sees me processing the pictures on my computer exclaiming "I know them, I saw them the other day!".
I've been blessed with a becoming friends with Gracie and meeting her close family. I first met Gracie at my day job and got a few pictures of Gracie for her birthday. She is stunning and could never guess that she has grandchildren ;)
I then met Gracie's children and had the pleasure of photographing her daughter's wedding on Halloween! Jeannette looked amazing in her wedding dress!
Wow! Then I met another one of Gracie's daughters while she was pregnant and was so excited to meet Newborn Isabella with big sister Sam.
Aren't they so cute?! Another one of Gracie's daughters came down to Texas to visit and this prompted a family photo session.
If you counted them all Gracie had seven Grandchildren at this session. Now she has Eight!! Introducing Baby Roxy.
Look at that crown. I made that! Miss R was my first model for the crown.

This is my first attempt at having a blog! I don't usually have too much to say but I LOVE big pictures and showing how fantastic my clients are with their beautiful images.
I first met Olga at a birthday party that she attended with her sister. I got a call a few weeks later from Olga asking if I could cover her civil wedding. The wedding was intimate (and hot outside in the summer) and it was great to meet Rigo along with all the family. Now I have the pleasure of meeting their son. It's exciting for me to follow my clients from marriage to growing families!
